Washington Minority Business Coalition (WMBC) Celebrates Resounding Success of Historic MOU Signing Ceremony at Pier 62

SEATTLE, WA — August 19, 2026 — The Washington Minority Business Coalition (WMBC) successfully held its historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing and ratification ceremony on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Pier 62 in Waterfront Park Seattle, as part of the 2026 WABA Korea Expo & Festival. The event drew strong attendance from local entrepreneurs, community members, regional media, and economic development allies.

The ceremony was conducted by Marcos Wanless, first elected WMBC Chair and President of the Seattle and Tacoma Latino Chambers of Commerce, alongside David Oh, President of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce and coalition member.

The ceremony featured inspiring remarks from Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson, Víctor Hugo López Ortega, Head Consul of the Consulate of Mexico in Seattle, and Sung Gil Chang, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle.

Representatives and attendees from each of the WMBC’s member organizations turned out in full force, highlighting the rich diversity and shared determination to drive collective prosperity across Washington State:

In recognition of this momentous occasion, Governor Ferguson officially proclaimed August 16 as the Day of the Washington Minority Business Coalition.
