The Seattle Latino Chamber of Commerce held an exclusive interview with Councilmember Claudia Balducci, candidate for King County Executive. The event, moderated by Chamber President Marcos Wanless, aimed to inform Latino voters and business owners about the candidate’s vision and proposals on issues directly impacting the Latino community and small businesses throughout the county.

Marcos Wanless explained that the Chamber extended invitations to both candidates; however, Councilmember Girmay Zahilay declined to participate, citing scheduling conflicts. The Chamber President emphasized the importance of public officials maintaining open communication with the Latino community — “the largest minority in King County and in the state” — and noted that a lack of engagement with this sector “should not go unnoticed.”

During the interview, Councilmember Balducci addressed key topics such as support for minority-owned businesses, equity in public contracting, economic development, and authentic Latino representation within county government. The questions focused on her strategies to strengthen small businesses, improve access to government contracts, and promote meaningful inclusion of Latino leaders in decision-making spaces.

The Chamber reaffirmed its commitment to empowering Latino entrepreneurs and serving as a “trusted messenger” for more than 2,000 business owners and professionals within its network.

The event concluded with Wanless encouraging the community to stay informed and participate in the upcoming November 5 election, emphasizing that voting is a civic duty essential to building “a stronger and more inclusive economy for Latinos and for all.”
