Seattle, WA – Marcos Wanless, President of the Seattle Latino Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (SLMCC), represented the Latino community at the Green Transportation Summit & Expo, the most prominent clean mobility and sustainable technology event in the Pacific Northwest.
During the event, SLMCC presented the WAZIP (Washington Zero-Emission Incentive Program), a new state initiative designed to support the adoption of zero-emission medium- and heavy-duty vehicles as well as off-road commercial equipment. Funded by the Climate Commitment Act and administered by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in partnership with CALSTART, the program offers point-of-sale vouchers to businesses, governments, and nonprofits operating in Washington State.
WAZIP is a unique opportunity for small and medium Latino-owned businesses to reduce operating costs, modernize their fleets, and transition to a cleaner, more efficient model. Buyers receive direct discounts with no additional paperwork, as certified dealers handle the entire process.
The Chamber’s presence at events like this reaffirms its commitment to innovation, environmental justice, and sustainable economic development. “The future of transportation is electric, and our community must be part of that transition,” stated Marcos Wanless during his remarks.
